Assembly Bill1 678, which was signed into law September 2014 created the opportunity for LGBT certified firms to be included in the California Public Utilities Commission’ annual report of its regulated utilities procurement results. Following in April of 2021, an aspirational goal of 1.5% of total procurement for LGBT certified firms was established. Many stakeholders within California-based utilities ‘went to work’ creating programs to augment the pool of qualified firms.  Thanks to the leadership of BuildIT Founders, including Angel Lance of Motive Power, we worked with PG&E on building new levels of supplier excellence to deliver meaningful results.
 
Led by PG&E’s Supply Chain, and punctuated by the leadership of Jeff Montana and Danielle Lewis, the team held monthly meetings with key stakeholders focused on financial resiliency, capacity development, internal process improvements and forecasting. 
 
Developing businesses takes vision, innovation, dedication and attention to the hundreds of details necessary to build trust within the procurement pipeline.  For this, and many other reasons BuildIT will bestow its Presidential Award of Achievement to PG&E, Jeff Montana and Danielle Lewis on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at our Founders Day Gala Dinner & Awards Program to be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
